Your Child is Welcome at All Souls

All Souls welcomes people of all ages to take part in parish life. We are especially mindful of the needs of children (and their parents). At our 10:00am service every Sunday, there is a Children's Talk at the beginning of the service. Children are then invited to go out to Sunday School for stories and activities.  (Parents are welcome to 'look in' at Sunday Schol to see for themselves how it operates).  Children return to the church in time for Communion, and are encouraged to go up to the communion rail with their parents to receive a blessing and a sticker.

Help is at hand
If you prefer to keep your child in church with you, we have facilities to help:

  • Some colouring in drawings with pencils (ask person on Welcome Duty)
  • An area for small children and their parents can be found in the back pew of the church.  There are toys available in the basket for the children to play with.
  • Our wide side aisles confortably take a pram or pusher
  • If your child becomes restless during the service, we understand if you want to move into the back of the church where the service can still be seen and heard.

Faith & Fun Sunday
1st Sunday Each Month (10:00am)
This service is for all ages and is quite relaxed and casual. The music has a more modern feel. There is no Communion. We like children participating in the service and it usually lasts 1 hour.  Each month there is a theme e.g. Back to School, Colouring the World.

Christmas
Our annual Christmas Eve Crib Service is always well-supported.
In particular, people enjoy the Christmas Nativity play presented by children of the Sunday School. This service begins at 7:00pm.

Why bring our children to church?
  • To give our children the opportunity to hear about God and Jesus from other people, enabling them to have a wider exposure to the Christian faith.  In this way, we can allow them to take their first steps in developing their own faith.
  • To help our children understand that the church is more than a special building, it is the people inside who are the true church.
  • To help parents meet the spiritual development of their children.
